About this event
Please join us for a Greater Columbia Region – PCA drive through the back roads of south central Washington. This is a one or two day event depending on which option you choose. The second day option is only available as a package with day one but you can choose to participate on day one only.
On day one (Saturday), we will meet at Peace, Love and Coffee in Grandview, WA at 10 AM to begin our tour. The tour will take us through Bickleton for a lunch stop at the oldest operating tavern in Washington and we will end our day at Maryhill Winery on the Columbia River. The day one option ends at Maryhill Winery.
The day two option consists of a Saturday afternoon drive from Maryhill Winery to Goldendale, Washington, dinner in Goldendale, a visit to the Goldendale Observatory for the Night Program, overnight in Goldendale, and a Sunday morning drive from Goldendale to The Dalles, Oregon for brunch at Petite Provence Boulangerie & Patisserie. The day two option ends at the brunch stop. You can return home at your leisure.
All meals will be “on your own.” Observatory admission is free. If you have a Washington Discover pass, parking at the observatory is free. Otherwise, parking costs $10 for a one day pass.
This is a wonderful opportunity to tour some of the best roads in south central Washington and visit the Goldendale Observatory to gaze at the stars (some telescope observation requires climbing mobile stairs). We hope for good viewing conditions because the area has very low light pollution. Indoor multimedia presentations and equipment demonstrations will still take place if there are poor viewing conditions.
